Load haul dumper ( LHD ) एक underground mines में उपयोग होने वाली loading मशीन है जो blasting के बाद टूटे हुए coal या material को एकठ्ठा करके mines से बाहर transport करने में सहायता प्रदान करती है ।

1. जैसा कि नाम से ही स्पष्ट है कि यह एक mining equipment है जो bulk material का loading, hauling & discharging करता है।
2. LHD आमतौर पर track less होता है और यह शब्द आमतौर पर underground में इस्तेमाल किए जाने वाले वाहन तक ही सीमित होता है।

3. LHD भूमिगत खनन के लिए Approved हैं, इसलितये इसके Compact और law profile हैं।
4. surface operation के लिए आमतौर पर dumping के साथ-साथ loading & hauling के लिए अलग मशीनों का उपयोग करना पसंद किया जाता है।
5. The LHD are rubber tyred mounted machine driven by flame proof electric motor or by a flame proof diesel engine.
6. LHD सामान्य रूप से 6 में 1 तक Gradient पर उपयोग किया जाता है।
7.  Maximum Speed 8-10 Km/hr, जब loaded 3-5 km/hr हो।

Load Haul Dumper Work 

Lhd tyre mounted  मशीन  है। SDL की तरह यह भी Face से कोयला अपनी Bucket में लोड करती है । और उसे ले जाकर Belt या chain conveyor में गिराती है। Tire माउंटेड होने के कारण तेज गति से चलती है। और chain या belt conveyor फेस से 90 मीटर तक  दूर रह सकते हैं। इसके लिए इसमें 90 मीटर trolling cable लगा होता है। जो मशीन पर लगी स्वचालित केबल में लिपटा रहता है।

                                                 Tyre Mounted होने के कारण यह उस जगह काम नहीं कर सकती जहां Gradient 6 in 1 से अधिक है, या तल्ली कमजोर है, और रूफ से पानी रिश्ता है। इसकी बकेट, जो सामने लगी होती है, Front Discharge प्रकार की होती है,  और सामने माल गिराती है। इसकी bucket, Tilting या Pusher type की हो सकती है। Tilting प्रकार की बकेट का पिछला भाग ऊपर उठता है और Bucket टेढ़ी होकर माल सामने unload करती है। Pusher plate प्रकार की बकेट के अंदर एक pusher plate लगी होती है, Load माल को पुशर प्लेट सामने ठेल कर बाहर गिराती है। Bucket के सब Movement हाइड्रोलिक होते हैं।

                                 LHD दो भागों में बनी होती है, जो परस्पर Flexible Joint से जुड़े होते हैं। और 100 डिग्री तक घूम सकते हैं इससे यह मशीन कम चौड़ी गैलरी के जंक्शन में भी आसानी से मुड़ सकती है। मॉडल के अनुसार Bucket Capacity 1.5m3, 2m3, 3m3 होती है। यह मॉडल 2.4 meter मोटी seam में भी काम कर सकती हैं । 1.5m3 में 50hp 550V की फ्लैमप्रूफ मोटर होती है। लोड लेकर LHD करीब 4 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटा की गति से दौड़ सकती है। LHD के लिए रोड को साफ रखना बहुत जरूरी है।

Load Haul Dumper Safety Devices 

• Breaks:-    Service, emergency, and parking brakes with fire-resistant hydraulic fluid is used.
• Signals:-  Audible warning signal, back up alarm
• Canopy:- Special cabin/canopy is also provided for the safety of operator.
• Engine:- shut off the engine if exhaust gases exceed temperature of 85 °C (or as per set value).
• Electric:- For electric shock safety, these SDL power source(gate end box) are equipped with earth conductivity protection using pilot core in electric trailing cable, which isolates complete power when earth continuity is broken.
• Headlights
